Courses for * May 2026
Program completion time depends on your chosen delivery option:
- 8-month or 12-month full-time options available - Full-time status requires 11+ credits per term
- Part-time students typically finish in 18 months.
Courses in this program must be taken in a certain sequence to match Government of Alberta requirements. We have outlined the courses in order for the 8-month completion on the right (avaliable in the Online w/ in person labs and In person Daytime deliveries). Students taking the evening delivery will take 3 terms, approximately 12 months.
12 month program completion path Evening delivery:
- Term one: HLTH 1031, HLTH 1032, and HLTH 1034
- Term two: HLTH 1033, HLTH 1550, and HLTH 2016
- Term three: HLTH 2017, HLTH 2550, and HLTH 2551

Health Care Aides must demonstrate the competencies outlined in the Alberta Health Care Aide Competency Profile
Instructor-led clinical placements (HLTH 1550 and HLTH 2550): For Edmonton campus and online students, placements will occur in Edmonton or surrounding communities. Wetaskiwin campus students will be placed in Wetaskiwin or surrounding communities. Your schedule may include day or evening shifts, Monday to Friday.
A preceptored clinical placement is a type of hands-on learning experience where a student is paired one-on-one with a practicing professional (called a preceptor) in a real work setting.
Your consolidated clinical placement (HLTH 2551) may be arranged in or close to your community. Your schedule may include day, evening, or night shifts any day of the week, including weekends and holidays
