Advanced Education in Orthopaedics for LPNs

Advance your nursing career with specialized training in orthopaedics. This post-diploma program is designed for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) who want to deepen their expertise and step into more focused roles. You’ll build advanced knowledge in anatomy, physiology, orthopaedic assessment, radiology, and trauma care, getting you ready to take a new direction within your profession. 

What to expect from the program

Through one lab and two theory courses, plus an in-depth clinical practicum, this self-paced study will further your understanding of anatomy and physiology in relation to orthopaedics and orthopaedic radiology, assessment, and trauma. You will learn specialized orthopaedic procedures and skills, including casting.

Students are more likely to be successful in this program if they:

  • Are physically and emotionally able to manage workplace demands
  • Have access to a vehicle to travel to complete their clinical practice
  • Have access to a computer and basic computer skills

Graduate with experience

You’ll graduate from this program with 300 hours of work experience from your practicum.

Classes have no scheduled meetings, allowing you to complete coursework on your own schedule within set start and end dates, with deadlines for some assignments.

Upon successful completion of this program, you will be prepared to work in emergency departments, cast rooms, and orthopaedic patient care areas.
