Alberta Indigenous Construction Career Centre

The Alberta Indigenous Construction Career Centre (AICCC) is a unique service designed to connect prospective Indigenous workers with employers recruiting for construction-related careers.

In 2014, the Government of Alberta committed $1 million for the creation of the AICCC. The AICCC connects prospective Indigenous workers with employers that are recruiting for construction-related careers. The AICCC receives job postings from businesses, and connects each posting with qualified Indigenous individuals. All individuals registered with the Centre receive job coaching support from a qualified career coach to assess qualifications, skill development requirements, and personalized job matching with positions.

The AICCC achieves the following objectives for the Government of Alberta, Indigenous Albertans, and prospective employers:

  • Increasing the number of work-ready Indigenous job seekers throughout the province.
  • Addressing the workforce and skills training needs and goals of Indigenous people in Alberta.
  • Increasing collaboration between industrial partners to allow employment and internships of Indigenous workers specific to the construction industry-related and careers sector.
  • Collaborating with First Nations, Métis, Inuit and urban Indigenous organizations, provincial and federal governments, and educational institutions to achieve better educational outcomes for Indigenous students within the post-secondary system through technical training and career path coaching.
