Upskilling For Data Analytics and Business Intelligence for Autistic Individuals

The world is constantly changing, and the amount of data being collected by organizations is growing exponentially. Employers need individuals that are skilled in handling this data and leveraging it for business intelligence and data analytics applications.

This practical, 16-week program equips you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to be able to make a career change into the technology industry. Participants will complete this program with valuable direct work experience.

This program is specifically designed for Autistic individuals, who have at least three years' work and/or volunteer experience and are motivated to make a career change. The program aims to support the unique and individual needs of the participants for accommodations critical to successful skill building and employment retention. 

The program is offered at NorQuest College in Edmonton, Alberta and at Humber College in Toronto, Ontario. Applications for both NorQuest and Humber can be completed through the "Apply Now" button.

​The admission process for this program includes an interview with a program counsellor.

What is Completion certificate

Ministry-approved teaching and learning activities that provide practical training for rapid entry into frontline jobs but do not culminate in a parchment/credential.

What to expect from the program

What are some of the key highlights of this program ​

  • Learn the foundational components of business intelligence and data analytics
  • Gain transferable skills such as importing and converting data files, creating dashboards and advanced spreadsheet modeling
  • A minimum of 100 hours of integrated work experience with hands-on experience in a data analysis role with a partner employer
  • Renumeration for work placement time
  • Learn current transferable skills including data entry, data transformation, data modelling, and data visualizations.
  • Participants will learn professional communication skills, teamwork and collaboration, information literacy, and project management
  • Learn critical job seeking skills including resume writing, development of cover letters, and interview skills
  • Access to career coaching throughout both the in-class and work experience components
  • Classroom support and accommodations as needed

How much time should a learner dedicate to this program? 

The classroom components are offered in-person and instructor-led. Participants should expect to commit 4-6 hours per day, Monday through Friday to the program.  Work experience hours will depend on the employer and may range from part-time to full-time roles. 

Delivery method ​

  • Classes will be delivered in-person at our downtown campus Monday to Friday. 
  • Work experience hours will be completed in-person at the employer’s location as required by the employer partner. 

How much does the program cost 

This program is funded by Upskill Canada. Participants pay a tuition fee of $150 and funding is available to cover this fee for those who qualify.
