Inspiring Teams is designed to help you become a confident and effective leader who can inspire and motivate your team to achieve their goals. With this badge, you will learn how to build strong relationships with your team or project members, create a positive team culture, and provide constructive feedback to help you team members grow and develop. You’ll also learn how to lead through change, overcome common team challenges, and empower your team members to take ownership of their work.

  • Individuals who take this badge will be tasked with a Leadership Opportunity Challenge as an opportunity to transfer the knowledge, skills and attitudes learned within the program to authentic workplace situations.

What is a Digital badge

Carefully curated learning activities that provide learners with opportunities to gain specific skills or competencies that are workforce relevant and valued by employers, without enrolling in a credential program. The outcome can be shared digitally and allows employers to easily identify candidates who have mastered a specific skill set for success in their industry.

What to expect from the program

This is an online program taught in real-time with instructors skilled in leadership and management with practical organizational experience. Self-paced activities complement the virtual lectures and include simulations, on-the-job scenarios, and relevant reading assignments. The badge concludes with a capstone presentation that incorporates learning material into an authentic workplace situation.

Who should take this program

Inspiring Teams is suited for new and emerging leaders who are in entry-level and mid-level supervisory or management roles. The program combines learners from different industries and positions, providing you with the opportunity to understand business and leadership challenges from diverse perspectives.

What you'll learn

The badge is comprised of the following course topics:

  • Effective Communication - This course helps managers learn the skills of communicating effectively, so they can convey information more effectively and efficiently and be more productive in the workplace.

  • Coaching & Mentorship - In this course leaders will be introduced to multiple practical coaching and mentorship frameworks to provide learners with options in exercising the best when coaching, mentoring and leading others, whether formally or informally.

  • Difficult Conversations - This course introduces learners to the most well-known theories and authors to understand why difficult conversations arise, how they escalate and present tools and techniques to plan and execute a difficult conversation.

  • Building Effective Teams - This course examines the critical elements that define a team. It describes the stages of team development and provides tools and techniques for the learner to determine which leadership style they as a leader, would use to aid and foster team development.

  • Change Management - The course provides ideas, tools, and resources to assist leaders through change, with an emphasis on practical application.

Additional information

Inspiring Teams is eligible for the Canada Alberta Job Grant, a training support program where an employer applies on behalf of their present or future employees for eligible training costs.
