The Day Home Provider program, designed for English language learners, is a 10-month integrated skills program that focuses on both academic and occupational skills through the content of early childhood training. Aligned with the best practices of early learning and child care, this hands-on program enhances learning by integrating theory and practice.

What to expect from the program

Program highlights include:

  • supervised field experience in approved licensed family day homes and childcare centres
  • opportunity to build a personal children's resource collection
  • NorQuest College certificate
  • professional portfolio and employment networking opportunities
  • strong emphasis on building good communication skills

Graduate with experience

NorQuest College believes in the importance of on-the-job experience that provides an enriched learning opportunity.

This program includes 110 hours of field experience.

Career opportunities

This program will prepare you to become a self-employed day home provider or work in a child-care centre. After successfully completing this program, you can apply for Level 1 Early Childhood Educator certification through the Government of Alberta, Human Services.
