Pre-Employment 1st Period Pipe Trades: Practical - XPIP 1104

In this course, students will complete hands-on practical training in APTC shops, gaining skills and confidence to become an apprentice in one of the pipe trades. Students will also complete the following safety courses, prior to entering the observership: ESC Fall Protection, ESC Mobile Elevating Work Platform, CSA Intermediate (Standard) First Aid CPR-C and AED. Students will demonstrate their understanding of concepts learned in the theory portion of the class through their completion of projects in the shop. Successful students will receive a certificate of completion from the Alberta Carpenters Training Centre, and may get the opportunity to challenge AIT’s 1st period theory exam. Students who pass the AIT exams will be credited for their first-year apprenticeship once their on-the-job hours are complete.
