Pre-Employment 1st Period Carpenter: Practical - XCAR 1104

In this course, students will complete hands-on practical training in CCDC's carpentry shop, gaining skills and confidence to become a first-year carpenter apprentice. Students will also complete the following safety courses, prior to entering a work-integrated learning: ESC Fall Protection, ESC Mobile Elevating Work Platform, CSA Intermediate (Standard) First Aid CPR-C and AED. Students will demonstrate their understanding of concepts learned in the theory portion of the class through their completion of projects in the shop. Successful students will receive a certificate of completion from CLAC Career Development College, and the opportunity to challenge AIT's 1st period practical exam. Students who pass AIT exams will be credited for their first-year apprenticeship once their on-the-job hours are complete.

Note: This course is delivered by CLAC Career Development College at their location at 15860 114 Ave, NW, Edmonton, AB, T5M 2Z4 by a certified journeyperson instructor. All course curriculum, grading, and attendance requirements are determined by CLAC Career Development College. Required safety courses will be at a training facility determined by CCDC.  

All course materials are provided to learners, including the 1st Period Carpenter ILM.
