Providing Person-Centred Care and Comfort - HLTH 1034

Students will learn how to use individual care plans to support clients’ independence and meet their care needs, and will acquire the skills and knowledge required to help clients with daily grooming and hygiene. Students will also learn how to assist clients to walk and to use mobility aids and wheelchairs safely. They will practise methods for carrying out client lifts and transfers, with a focus on client safety and comfort. Upon completion of the course, students will have excellent baseline knowledge of the standards for meeting client nutritional needs and the strict guidelines in safe food handling as set out in the Alberta Long-Term Care Accommodation Standards.
