Are you interested in pursuing a career in STEM, but you’re not sure how you’re going to pay for your education?

NorQuest is now accepting applications for the 1000Women4STEM award! Through the 1000 Women movement, NorQuest provides financial support valued up to $22,000 for women planning to enroll in the Energy Management, Machine Learning Analyst, or Environmental Technician diplomas.

The 1000Women4STEM award includes up to $22,000 in funding that can go towards your program tuition, fees, and other learning expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Self-identify as a Woman*
  2. Planning to enroll as a full-time student in the Energy Management, Environmental Technician or Machine Learning Analyst programs
  3. Demonstrate financial need
  4. Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
  5. Student cannot be receiving other sponsorship (grants or bursaries) that would cover tuition, books, and/or mandatory college fees (including but not limited to Learner Benefits, WCB, Aboriginal funding, Advancing Futures)

* For the 1000W4STEM Award criteria, women is defined as individuals who self-identify as trans-women and cis-gendered women.

Remember, regardless of whether there is space for you at the table, you can always flip the table over. You can always find another chair and you can always make space. Women belong in STEM and women are going to be the difference.

Application process

We understand that financial help can play an important role when it comes to your studies. Apply for financial support first before applying for your diploma program. Don’t miss this opportunity to fund your education!

  1. Explore our three STEM diplomas: Energy Management, Environmental Technician, Machine Learning Analyst
  2. Review the eligibility criteria listed above
  3. Apply for the award today by submitting the one-page application form below
  4. Receive a response between 7 to 10 days after submitting your application and learn if you’re a recipient of the award
  5. After you’ve received a response, apply for one of our three STEM diplomas

Frequently asked questions

What if I don’t meet the program’s admission requirements?

Great question! If you do not have the admission requirements to enter into NorQuest’s Energy Management, Environmental Technician, or Machine Learning Analyst programs, you can apply for the 1000Women4STEM Prep Funding.

Receive up to $5000 in funding to complete academic upgrading at NorQuest, so you can start on your pathway to a STEM education and career.

What does the award include?

The 1000Women4STEM award includes up to $22,000 in funding that can go towards your program tuition, fees, and other learning expenses. Once the full funding is dispersed, you are required to cover any costs exceeding that amount.

When will I receive the award?

The funds for the 1000Women4STEM award will be disbursed after the recipient has confirmed their enrolment in full-time studies in one of our Energy Management, Machine Learning Analyst, or Environmental Technician programs. 

The disbursement of funds will be on a per-term basis contingent on the award recipient maintaining a 2.0 GPA.

Is there a cost to apply?

There is no cost to apply for the award, but there is a fee to apply for the diploma program. 

Note: there is no application fee for Indigenous learners.

Do I need a background in science?

No! You don’t need a background in science to apply for the award or for the three STEM diplomas at NorQuest. Our diplomas are designed for all educational backgrounds. The classroom learning and hands-on experience will give you the tools to become workforce-ready upon graduation.
