NorQuest refreshes its retail space with The Core

Bold, vibrant, loud, and proud. This is the essence of NorQuest’s newly transformed retail space. More than just a bookstore, The Core is also a flexible space that can be used to host events. It’s an intriguing reboot for the college.

“The Core used to be this traditional campus bookstore,” explains Jackie Nguyen, Manager, Business Enterprises. “Now, this new retail space is modern and lends itself to other collaboration within the community.”

“It has a vibe to it,” adds Brad Arkison, Vice President, Marketing and Communications. "The way the product is displayed and the space itself certainly makes it feel different than a typical campus bookstore. Everything looks really modern.”

The Core’s Make a Statement collection aligns with the college’s refreshed brand and embodies the NorQuest spirit.

Spanning from t-shirts and lanyards to water bottles, notebook sets, and enamel pins, these are unique gifts that students, employees, supporters, and community members can all enjoy.

“These products are curated and designed with the intention of appealing to both the NorQuest community and the general public,” says Nguyen. “They are meaningful and make an impact.”

Nguyen is speaking to the ethical procurement and corporate social responsibility aspect of items like water bottles and NorQuest-branded socks.

“Each of our water bottles have a QR code,” she explains. “We’re supporting Fill it Forward where every time you scan the code, you add to a fund that supports a social project. This is a great opportunity for you to not only support NorQuest but also a greater good.”

The Core will also be partnering with Mr. Nice Socks, a local company in Edmonton, where for every pair of socks purchased, two pairs of new socks are donated to a charity of choice.

“We wanted to take care of our students first, so we selected the Students’ Association of NorQuest College,” says Nguyen. “We also chose to support YWCA and the United Way.”
