NorQuest Road Hockey tournament returns

October 28, 2022

EDMONTON – NorQuest College’s annual Road Hockey Tournament – a cherished event that introduces newcomers to Canada to our national game – returned to downtown Edmonton today.

After a two-year absence due to the pandemic, this NorQuest tradition made a spirited comeback, with more than 120 college students and employees participating in the tournament.

“We’re so happy to see this NorQuest tradition return,” says Sarah Smyth, chair of the college’s Road Hockey committee. “Hockey always seems to bring Canadians together, and we’re always thrilled to introduce students who are newcomers to Canada to our exciting national sport.”

With learners from more than 108 countries of origin, hockey is often a new experience for many. Some are amused, others intrigued, but everyone who took part in the tournament had a lot of fun.

The tournament consisted of both recreational and competitive leagues.
