NorQuest College announces new measures to limit COVID-19 for Fall term

August 20, 2021

EDMONTON – NorQuest College has announced new policies to ensure a safe and healthy return to in-person teaching and learning for the Fall 2021 term.

Starting in September, NorQuest College will require all those coming to campus to undergo regular rapid testing for COVID-19. Those who are fully vaccinated are exempt from this requirement. Those who would prefer not to disclose their vaccine status will need to regularly complete a rapid screening test and receive a negative result before they participate in in-person activities on the NorQuest campus.

Additionally, most programs for Fall 2021 will continue to be offered through a mix of in-person, virtual, and asynchronous deliveries, and through NorQuest’s HyFlex model.

“We are just so eager to see the return of our learners, faculty, staff, and community to NorQuest this Fall, and we know they expect our campus to be a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for learning,” said Jill Matthew, Vice President, Administration & Chief Financial Officer and Emergency Operations Committee lead. “These new measures are responsible and minimally invasive, and they allow us to fulfill our commitment to deliver an exceptional educational experience at NorQuest. We will continue to monitor the pandemic as the situation evolves and review these policies on an ongoing basis.”

The measures have been developed to support the health and safety of NorQuest’s campus community, and follow similar measures announced by other post-secondary institutions in Alberta.

Additional steps to keep our campus community safe

NorQuest also announced that non-medical face masks must now be worn in all public indoor areas at the college where physical distancing is not possible. Those who are not yet fully vaccinated may also get inoculated at a two-day vaccine clinic at NorQuest planned for September 15 and 16. NorQuest learners, employees, and the community will be notified of plans for the clinic as soon as possible.
