Open Education Global is proud to co-host the OE Global Conference with NorQuest College. The conference is the main venue for Open Education practitioners, policy builders, advocates, researchers, students, and decision-makers to share practices, network, and initiate collaborations. Participants collectively discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in open education and share their perspectives on its future direction.
In 2020, NorQuest’s Reimagine Higher education initiative envisioned the college as an international leader in open education, as a largely zero textbook cost institution where faculty use and create open educational resources to make education more accessible. Another goal was to host OE Global, the world’s preeminent open education conference. In October, 2023 this dream will become a reality.

Call for proposals
You are invited to submit proposals for conference sessions. The theme of the Open Education Global 2023 Conference is Building a Sustainable World Through Open Education. The conference welcomes proposals that reflect on sustainability and inclusiveness and how Open Education can support the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UNESCO’s six Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) priorities along with other societal challenges.

OE Global Conference will be a carbon neutral event. When planning our event, we will be making conscious choices to keep our emissions low. OE Global Conference will be working with Explore Edmonton and Ostrom Climate Solutions, Canada’s leading carbon management solutions provider, to measure our event’s total greenhouse gas emissions. We will offset the emissions from the event, such as heating, cooling and food served, and from all of the participants’ travel and hotel stays. We will contribute to projects that prevent the equivalent amount of emissions elsewhere. Ostrom Climate’s offset projects are verified and validated by third parties to ensure that the emission reductions are real, additional, and permanent. We are proud to take action against climate change.
