History

In 2010, a founding group of women rallied together in living rooms and coffee shops, with the idea of creating an endowment fund that would support the emergency financial needs of NorQuest College students. With the leadership of Wendy Kinsella, then-Chair of the 1000 Women Advisory Committee, the group committed to supporting students who had unexpected or extenuating circumstances that could disrupt or end their education and career achievement.

An ambitious goal was set: Engage 1000 women to give $1000 each to create a $1,000,000 endowment - the Million Possibilities Endowment Fund. With high spirits, the founding women committed to achieving their goal in 3 years.

The first fundraising luncheon was held in June 2010 with 80 guests. Two years later, in 2012, the annual luncheon expanded to 600 guests and the $1,000,000 goal was achieved one year ahead of schedule.

Contributing artist and friend, Irene Klar, inspired the first phase of the movement with her iconic image, "Northern Visions".
