NorQuest peer tutors: Students helping students succeed
My name is Nathalie and I am an international student. I began my quest at NorQuest College in the Practical Nurse program in January 2013. My goal is to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, but I gained something more. I have become a better person.
I mentioned this is a quest because I was looking for something more than a profession. I was also seeking to grow in any possible way. The Tutorial Centre supported me in solving my doubts on a variety of topics, deeper explanations, time management, and advice on how to study more effectively.
English is my second language; therefore, grammar and spelling were not my strengths. I needed to pass all the academic upgrading courses before I could pursue my original goal. Thanks to the tutors, I learned everything I needed to succeed, things like confidence in an exam, discipline, and study techniques.
I am now two semesters away from completing my goal. I have become a NorQuest peer tutor myself and I now have the opportunity to pass on the gift that was given to me by the tutors.
Tutoring has helped me increase my own knowledge and also do something very rewarding to help others decrease their fears and become more confident, knowledgeable, and successful.
