Vanyelle Behr

Pharmacy Technician

Growth and excellence for NorQuest’s reigning top graduate

In May of this year, NorQuest presented its first ever President’s Medal – the college’s highest student honour.

That honouree, Pharmacy Tech grad Vanyelle Behr, was a great choice then and has now moved on to be a testament to the type of qualified, high-achieving, and personable graduate that NorQuest produces. Today, she is still seeking excellence in her life and career, and is an important member of the team of employees at the Strathcona Prescription Centre in Edmonton.

During her time at NorQuest, Behr demonstrated consistent academic excellence and was described as a student who respects and encourages the input of others and was an exceptional leader among her peers. From the moment she entered the program, her leadership skills, confidence, and kindness were evident.

Strathcona Prescription Centre pharmacist and owner Wil Leung agrees with that assessment.

“From a personality perspective she is extremely outgoing, and how a person presents themselves in our business is extremely important. She is an important asset here for sure – just a pleasant individual to be around and very knowledgeable.”

One of NorQuest College’s biggest hopes for its graduates is that they pursue life-long learning. Behr recently passed the registered pharmacy technician designation exam.

As a registered pharmacy technician Behr will assume new duties and new responsibilities. That’s just fine with her. This is a life choice she knew she would enjoy and looks forward to all the challenges and rewards it brings.

“It is still exciting to me. There is always something new and the best part about this profession is the people. I really like talking to the patients and helping them understand their needs better.”
