Participants work online and in small class environments to develop employability skills. Graduates learn communication, teamwork, and technical skills in data processing, data management, and software literacy.

What to expect from the program

The IndTech program supports the development of inclusive and accessible workplaces. Working with Indigenous youth and employer-partners removes barriers for Indigenous professionals. The program combines supportive programming for participants and employers with career coaching. Graduates of IndTech gain employability and technical skills for the digital economy.

Graduate with experience

A paid internship gives participants the opportunity to use the skills and knowledge they learn in the classroom. Graduates gain an entry-level position with an employer-partner, while also learning about their own skills and interests. Participants will develop their skills, experience a professional work setting, and build their confidence. This experience will also build their network, add experience to their resume, and sustain employment.

Admission requirements

  • Identifying as Indigenous
  • Citizen, Permanent Resident, or refugee in Canada
  • Between 18 and 30 years of age
  • Not be employed, in school, in a transition program or in training at the start
  • Ready and able to work for the duration of the work experience (two months)
  • Have a high school diploma (Exceptions may be made for those without a diploma)
  • Confident using a PC and software programs (Microsoft Office, Google, etc.)
  • Can stick to routines, am ready to learn new skills and motivated to find long-term employment
  • Passionate about technology, computers, gaming, hardware and software
  • Able to communicate functionally and Independently
  • Ready to actively seek employment after completing the program

Career opportunities

Participants will graduate to perform data processing roles for a variety of businesses in the digital economy. Sectors include those in education, finance, government, artificial intelligence, or health business.
