What is a Microcredential

A series of carefully curated learning activities that provide learners with opportunities to gain specific skills or competencies that are workforce relevant and valued by employers, without enrolling in a credential program. The outcome can be shared digitally and allows employers to easily identify candidates who have mastered a specific skill set for success in their industry.

What to expect from the program

Esports is more than competitive gaming—it’s a global industry with growing demand for skilled professionals and a powerful platform for businesses to stand out. This microcredential goes beyond the game to show how Esports is reshaping marketing, community-building, and career paths.

You’ll gain a solid understanding of the history and rise of Esports, explore how the industry operates and thrives, and learn how to connect your own skills and experience to opportunities in the Esports business world.

The badges

The Introduction to Esports microcredential includes three digital badges that can be completed within 32 hours. Take all three to earn the microcredential or register for individual badges. Choose from:

  • The business of the Esports industry: (8 hours) Gain a business-focused introduction to the Esports industry, exploring key players, digital branding, and real-world strategies to succeed in this fast-growing field.
  • Marketing in Esports: (12.5 hours) Explore alternative marketing opportunities through the world of Esports marketing. With real world examples, you will learn how brands, creators, and events connect with global audiences through digital strategies, sponsorships, and content-driven campaigns.
  • Emerging trends in Esports: (10 hours) Discover emerging trends and technologies transforming Esports, and learn how innovation and social change are shaping the industry's future and disrupting established business models.
