What is a Microcredential

A series of carefully curated learning activities that provide learners with opportunities to gain specific skills or competencies that are workforce relevant and valued by employers, without enrolling in a credential program. The outcome can be shared digitally and allows employers to easily identify candidates who have mastered a specific skill set for success in their industry.

What to expect from the program

Choose from courses designed to provide the foundational knowledge you will need to take the CAEC exam, and achieve your  Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) The CAEC is for adults who do not have a high school diploma and are seeking access to employment prospects, education pathways, and training opportunities. Each interactive, self-paced CAEC Readiness badge offers accessible learning, regular self-assessments, instructor-marked assignments, and a final evaluation to track your progress.

Note: The badges and microcredential you earn through CAEC Readiness are not the same as a CAEC certificate. You’ll need to pass the CAEC exam to earn your official certification.

The badges

The CAEC Readiness program includes five digital badges that can each be completed within approximately 25 hours. Take a minimum of three to earn the microcredential or take only the badges that you need. Choose from:

  • Writing with Purpose: Build confidence in your writing through grammar foundations and techniques to make your writing clear, polished, and persuasive.
  • Reading for Success: Develop your reading skills and enhance your comprehension with strategies to identify key information, interpret meaning, and analyze ideas.
