Therapeutic Recreation: Program Design - TRDC 2002

In this course, you will learn how to systematically design accountable therapeutic recreation intervention programs that allow clients to meet specific outcomes.  Following the Therapeutic Recreation Accountability Model, you will develop a comprehensive program plan with measurable and meaningful outcomes for your clients.

Note: Prerequisites: COMM 2001, TRDC 1010, RPRT 1000, TRDC 1020. Restricted to Therapeutic Recreation.

In this course, you will explor thee foundations of therapeutic recreation program design and learn how TR Professionals develop, implement, and evaluate services that promote health, well-being, leisure engagement, and quality of life. Using a systems design approach, you will examine the principles of accountable, evidence-informed, and person-centred practice while gaining an understanding of the diverse populations and life stages served within therapeutic recreation. Throughout the course, you will learn to develop comprehensive and specific program plans, create measurable program outcomes and goals, select and analyze therapeutic activities, and design meaningful leisure education interventions.

This course is delivered in a classroom setting with face-to-face instruction at regularly scheduled times.
