Environmental Technician Field School - ENVI 2226

This course is a 9 credit experiential, off campus, residential 5 week course offered in the month of Sept in the 3rd term of the program. Additionally students will complete summary exercises for the balance of the Fall semester. Students will get hands-on experience in a wide range of environmental skills including field safety, navigation, soil descriptions, ecosite classification, wildlife sampling, water sampling, vegetation sampling and identification, and wetland classification.  Students will also be exposed to management of natural resources including forestry, conventional oil & gas, bitumen extraction, parks & protected areas, reclamation & remediation and cumulative effects. An emphasis on Indigenous knowledge, consultation, and engagement. Professionalism will be prioritized through feedback opportunities and reflective practice.

Note: Restricted to Environmental Technician.


This course is delivered in a classroom setting with face-to-face instruction at regularly scheduled times.
