Working with Families - DISB 2002

This course examines diverse family structures, relationships, and lived experiences in supporting a family member with a disability. Learners broaden their understanding of “family” to include cultural, relational, land-based, and lifespan perspectives. Using a person-centered, self-determination lens, learners explore natural, generic, and disability-specific supports and learn how families may act as natural supports and advocates. Emphasis is place on interdependence, recognizing that a rich constellation of supports fosters inclusion, belonging, and community connection.

Note: Restricted to Disability Studies.

This course is delivered in a classroom setting with face-to-face instruction at regularly scheduled times.
