Graduation and Convocation Checklist

Graduation and Convocation Checklist

Graduation is the culmination of your studies — you have completed all the requirements for your program. As a result, you have earned a recognized credential such as a certificate or diploma.

Convocation is a time-honoured post-secondary tradition commemorating students' accomplishments. It is a formal ceremony where the staff and faculty of the NorQuest College community, your family and your friends are able to honour your achievements and celebrate your success.

Graduate records

A credential for a program is conferred upon a student once, even if the student completes the program requirements more than one time. The credential will be notated on the official transcript as the earliest program completion only.

Student checklist

Ensure you will be able to graduate and attend Convocation. It is your responsibility to complete these steps.

1. Apply to graduate

If you will complete all your certificate or diploma requirements before August 31, 2022, you are eligible to graduate and attend Convocation.

To apply to graduate:

  1. Log in to your MyQuest account.
  2. Choose the "Apply for Graduation" feature.
  3. Submit your application before February 13, 2022 (see Register to attend Convocation section below).
  4. Once submitted, the Office of the Registrar will assess your courses to determine whether you have met the program requirements to receive your credential.
  5. The Office of the Registrar will email you through MyMail about the status of your application (and advise you of any further action required). If you have not received a response within two weeks of your application, email enrolment@norquest.ca from your MyMail account.

To receive your credential within one month of the end of your last term of study (based on successful completion of your program), your deadline to apply to graduate is February 13, 2021.

Program completion will be assessed by the Office of the Registrar only if you have applied to graduate through your MyQuest account. Your application to graduate is limited to the academic year in which you apply. If you are not successful in achieving your credential, you must apply to graduate again when eligible.

If attending Convocation is not a consideration, you must still apply to graduate to receive your credential.

2. Update your address

Parchments are mailed to the address on your student record. Ensure your address is up-to-date in your MyQuest account.

3. Register to attend Convocation

To be invited to attend Convocation 2022, you must be eligible to complete your program by August 31, 2022, and apply to graduate by February 13, 2022. If you apply after this deadline, you will have missed the opportunity to attend Convocation 2022. This deadline will not be extended.

Registration will open in April 2022.

If you are on track to graduate, we will email the Convocation invite and registration package to your MyMail account. You can also check for your name on the 2021-22 Convocation List in March 2022.

The invitation includes a link to the Gaspard website where you can buy your souvenir graduate package, which includes your gown. Once your order fees have been processed, you are registered to attend Convocation.
