When NorQuest grows, so will Alberta
NorǪuest College is Alberta’s largest comprehensive community college and one of its largest post- secondary institutions. No institution does more to help Albertans launch productive and successful lives. NorǪuest is an engine that converts hope into accomplishment, and potential into prosperity.

A campus built to serve half the number it serves today
NorǪuest was built to serve 5,000 students. Since 2010, the college's enrolment has tripled since with the equivalent of 11,000 full-time students on a campus today.
We can’t fit more learners into our current footprint. Within the next few years, NorǪuest College will simply be forced to stop growing.
More than ever, people are choosing to move to Alberta to improve their lives. As our province grows to 7 or 8 or even 10 million Albertans, now is the time to invest in the institutions that power the front lines. NorǪuest offers programming that connects people to the workforce to fill skill gaps in critical industries.

NorQuest is the right place for public investment
For every $1 million invested in NorQuest, there will be:
- 20 Indigenous learners per year accessing post-secondary education
- 60 newcomers each year to contribute to the economy
- 210 new skilled workers to join the Alberta workforce, 130 of whom will go into critical sectors with high job vacancy
- $600,000 in additional lifetime earnings per graduate
- $10 million per year in economic contributions
More people are moving to Alberta than ever before, and that means by 2030:
- 8,000 unfilled positions in schools, shelters, rehabilitation centres, mental health, and immigration services
- 17,000 more child and youth care workers will be needed
- Demand for language instruction for newcomers will grow by 383,000 immigrants
- The tourism and hospitality industry will grow by 50% and more than triple by 2040
What can NorQuest be with more investment?
- A more vital partner for business, government, industry, and community
- More able to design curriculum that arms workers with the skills industries crave
- More work-integrated learning opportunities
- An expanded apprenticeship model
- Learning options so students upskill quickly and with ease
- An accessible path for more Alberta learners to build their careers
NorQuest expansion will improve educational quality, learner experience, and learning outcomes all of which contribute to economic growth and develop the skills industry partners need in Alberta.
A growing NorQuest will continue to be a productive hub for business leaders and innovation, a stronger catalyst for research focused on society’s biggest challenges, and a more vital partner to government, industry and out community.
