Overview
If you are interested in a career or future studies in Indigenous relations, governance, education, and culture, consider our new Indigenous Studies diploma, which is designed for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners.
The Indigenous Studies program will help you broaden your understanding of the cultural, historical, social and political experiences of Indigenous peoples in Canada. The program will focus first on Treaty 6, then on Treaties 7 and 8, and finally on other Treaties in Canada and on global Indigenous perspectives. The program will allow you to:
- attain your diploma to pursue a career that involves leadership in Indigenous communities or organizations that work with Indigenous peoples, or
- begin your post-secondary career at NorQuest College and then transfer to university, or
- gain broader understanding to support your lifelong learning and professional development in fields such as social work, community support work, or health professions
- increase your knowledge and awareness of Indigenous cultures, peoples, histories, and economic development structures.
