PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
- Grade 5 or equivalent in reading and writing
Note: Academic admission requirements are different from English language proficiency (ELP) requirements. NorQuest College English for Academic Purposes courses may be used to meet both requirements. See below for details.
English Language Proficiency Requirements
If English is your second language, you must provide proof of ELP prior to admission. ELP test results must have been obtained within two years of the start date of your program.
Acceptable evidence of ELP may be one of the following test scores:
- CLBPT or CLBA: no section score below 4
- IELTS Academic: 4
- TOEFL iBT: 32
- CELPIP General: 4
- minimum of 80% in ESLS 4000 or ESLS 4100, and 80% in ESLW 4000 or ESLW 4100
- Police Information Check*; must include vulnerable sector check current to within six months prior to program start
- Intervention Record Check current to within six months prior to program start
*Online Police Information Checks are not accepted by the college. Contact your local law enforcement agency directly to obtain an official Police Information Check. The existence of a criminal record may prevent placement, program completion, and professional licensure and may therefore affect employment prospects. Prospective students who have a criminal record should discuss the matter with the program chair prior to applying for admission.
See Admissions Process for the steps to becoming a student.
Practicum/Work Experience Requirements
Prior to doing field experience coursework, an Intervention Record Check must be submitted to the Day Home Provider program. There may be additional costs associated with completing this requirement. See Work, Practicum, and Clinical Requirements for full details.
Students must attain a pass grade in each course to progress through the program.
To qualify for graduation, students must pass all courses.
