Steps to register

The Course Listings page of your program outlines its structure by term and year. It shows the preferred path to completing the program as a full-time student.

  1. Review your program requirements. You can search for classes and build your schedule before registration opens. In MyQuest, add preferred courses to your shopping cart or build a conflict-free schedule in Visual Schedule Builder. You will not be able to register until your enrolment appointment date and time.

  2. Request permission numbers. Permission numbers are not required if you meet the requirements of a course. Permission numbers allow you to register in certain classes through MyQuest. If you do not meet course requirements, your program area can determine if you are eligible to register. Contact your program area to submit a request.

  3. Check your enrolment appointment time. Your enrolment appointment is the date and time you will have access to register. You can register in classes anytime on or after this date, up to the enrolment deadline. Check your Student Center in MyQuest for your enrolment appointment time. Register on time for your best course selection as classes fill fast.

  4. Register for classes. Log into MyQuest. From the main menu, choose Self Service > Student Center > Academics > Enrolment to add or drop classes. Visit Computer Commons for help using MyQuest. You can also register in classes using Visual Schedule Builder. From your Student Center, select Build my Schedule.

  5. Review your enrolment and account summary. See your Student Center to review class schedule, start and end dates, campus, and tuition and fees.

  6. Pay your tuition and fees. Tuition and fees are due on the first day of the term. You can find the amount owning for tuition and fees in MyQuest under Campus Finances > Account Inquiry.

You can make a secure payment on your account through MyQuest. See other options to pay tuition and fees.

Visual Schedule Builder

Visual Schedule Builder (VSB) is an online self-service tool. You can access VSB through Student Center in MyQuest. VSB improves the experience of planning your schedule. It allows you to review conflict-free timetable options in an easy-to-read weekly format. VSB can help you select a schedule that works for your individual learning needs.

Check out some tips & tricks that VSB has to offer.

Class Waitlists

Many classes have waitlists available. If a class is full, you may have the option to place yourself on a waitlist. Once a space becomes available, you will be enrolled and notified of your schedule change.

Before registering for the waitlist, you need to consider the following:

  • Did you use the swap feature in MyQuest or did you add yourself directly to the waitlist? Students cannot register for the same course more than once within a term.
  • Are there any time conflicts that may occur if you are added to this class?
  • Are you already registered in the maximum number of credits for a given term in your program?
  • Does the class you are waitlisted for need department consent to register?
  • Have you entered your permission number?

If any of these errors occur at the time the system tries to enrol you, you will be skipped over on the waitlist. You will not lose your spot or be removed from the waitlist, but you will receive an error message that you must act on. Your position on the waitlist will remain the same until the error is resolved.

You must use the swap function when enrolling to the waitlist if an error may occur. By doing so, the system will drop your enrolled class and add you to the waitlisted class. If you do not use the swap function, you may receive an error message.

All waitlist updates will be sent to your MyMail account. Be sure to view your class schedule in MyQuest.
