The purpose of this survey was to collect information regarding students’ satisfaction with Clearly APA: The NorQuest Guide to APA Style, an in-house APA style guide developed by NorQuest instructors, librarians, and other staff members, and in consultation with NorQuest students. Clearly APA is a recommended textbook for ENGL 2550: Introduction to Composition. Following their completion of the course, students enrolled in ENGL 2550 in the 2016/2017 academic year were asked to complete an anonymous survey evaluating the Guide as a resource for APA citation style requirements, and to provide feedback about their experiences using the Guide.
Over 100 students responded to the recruitment email and completed the survey. The responses were overwhelmingly positive: 95% of respondents indicated that they used the Guide to complete assignments; 89% agreed that it was easy to find the information they needed; 96% agreed that the instructions and examples were clear and easy to follow; and 94% would recommend the Guide to future ENGL 2550 students. Moreover, 87% of respondents indicated that they used the guide to complete APA requirements for other courses in their programs, suggesting that Clearly APA: The NorQuest Guide to APA Style could be assigned as a recommended textbook in other NorQuest courses with APA requirements. Additional information collected in the survey will be used to make revision recommendations for future editions of the Guide.
