Presidential reappointment of Carolyn Campbell

Building on five years of transformational impact, record enrolment, and strengthened brand presence and profile, NorQuest College is pleased to share that the Board of Governors has unanimously approved the extension of President and CEO Carolyn Campbell’s contract for a second five-year term, effective June 15, 2025.

President Campbell assumed leadership during one of the most challenging periods in post-secondary history, as institutions grappled with the pandemic and an unprecedented shift to online learning. But with her strategic guidance and bold vision, the college not only adapted but thrived—entering a transformative five years marked by a 54% increase in revenue.

“Carolyn’s visionary leadership has helped make NorQuest a true innovator in inclusive, community-driven education,” says Rob Heron, Chair of the Board of Governors.

“Her compassionate, people-first approach has been instrumental in helping the college transform lives while tackling some of Alberta’s most pressing workforce challenges.”

Since President Campbell’s arrival in 2020, NorQuest has:

• secured major funding for campus expansion, which will help fill a talent gap and power the front lines of Alberta’s economy;
• accelerated research initiatives, backed by more than $18.5 million in applied research grants;
• deepened college commitments to inclusive spaces, including the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification for four campus buildings;
• introduced a first-of-its-kind Engineering University Transfer certificate program;
• opened Miyonohk Park, a gathering space dedicated to fostering community and cultural connection.

NorQuest also climbed to #15 on the list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges; was twice recognized as having one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures; and launched an ambitious, multimillion-dollar funding campaign to remove financial barriers for women in STEM.

The college is strongly positioned to advance its 2030 targets, sustain capital projects that will improve the vibrancy of Edmonton’s downtown education district, and provide economic and social benefit to NorQuest students and the province, in alignment with Alberta 2030.
