Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) has selected NorQuest College as the bronze recipient of the Excellence in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion award at their annual World Congress event in Montréal.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is a top priority for NorQuest, and those concepts are woven into NorQuest 2023: We are who we include, the college’s strategic plan. Although the college’s Office of Equity and the Colbourne Institute for Inclusive Leadership are focused on EDI, teams from across the college contributed to this achievement and are constantly striving to make NorQuest a truly equitable organization.
Nadira Barre, Director, Office of Equity, feels that the college is receiving the recognition because of the EDI groundwork that NorQuest has been working on over the past two years.
“Winning this award is our first time being recognized for working towards Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as a strategic priority,” says Barre. “We have certainly come far, but also know we have more work ahead to be a truly equitable institution. I am excited for the path ahead of us.”
