Leading the Way: How NorQuest Became an Open Education Leader

Open Education at NorQuest has changed dramatically since 2016, when we first began encouraging faculty to incorporate open images into their online courses. What started as a small initiative has expanded into a major campus initiative. Our Reimagine Higher Education plan positioned NorQuest as a world leader in open education, with ambitious goals: publishing 15 open textbooks by 2030, hosting Open Education Global, and becoming a textbook-cost-free institution by the end of the decade.

We are not only meeting these goals—we’re surpassing them.

In a panel discussion with open stakeholders at NorQuest, we will explore the impact of open education at our college and speculate on next steps in our open journey. 

Did you know? Since we first began tracking in 2023, NorQuest students collectively saved over $3.5 million through our Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) initiatives!
