Nourish your body, fuel your future at the NorQuest Fresh Food Market!

The Fresh Food Market is a wellness-driven initiative launched to address food insecurity among NorQuest College students by making nutritious food more accessible and affordable. In partnership with the WECAN Food Basket Society for this pilot, this program provides a monthly opportunity for students to purchase fresh produce and meat baskets at significantly reduced rates.  A produce basket includes a selection of fruits, vegetables, and a meat basket offers protein such as ground beef or chicken all designed to support balanced and healthy meals.

Pick-ups are held once a month on campus, ensuring convenience for busy learners who may not have access to nearby, affordable grocery options.

To participate, participants must register in advance and select their order by the specified deadline each month (see attached schedule).

The market not only reduces financial strain but also contributes to academic success by supporting students’ physical well-being and ability to focus. As the program evolves, plans are in place to expand offerings to include halal options, more produce and pantry staples such as eggs and milk.

This program is available to all NorQuest staff, faculty, students and Alumni. By investing in food security, the Fresh Food Market promotes a healthier, more equitable learning environment for the entire NorQuest community.

The market operates on a subscription-based model, with a one-time $5 membership fee per year and $15 per order for a produce or $20 for a meat basket. Participants can order as many baskets as they need in an order.

If finances are an issue for a student, email wellness@norquest.ca to speak with a social worker for an assessment or for more information about sponsoring a basket.
