Teena Corrigan

Academic Upgrading

Thank you to NorQuest College who helped make my dreams of success comes true!

Teena CorriganMy name is Teena Corrigan; I have been deaf since birth and am a single mother to my daughter who is now nine years old. Together we have struggled through innumerable obstacles including living well below poverty level on welfare and moving from place to place.  Needing to upgrade my grade 12 because I graduated from high school with grade 4 English and grade 6 math levels, I began to give up on my dreams until I started taking upgrading courses at NorQuest College in 2008-2009.

When I received the message that they could accommodate me to successfully attain my goals, I was delighted. I received so much support at Norquest and was able to graduate with Grade 12 Math and English. Because of this success, I have had the opportunity to choose from a variety of colleges for the diploma program I wanted.

I went to SAIT and graduated with an Exploration Information Technology Diploma. I have worked for Suncor Energy Inc. in Calgary for two years and am looking forward to a bright future for my family. Again, I am thankful for NorQuest College for helping me keep my dream on track and being wonderful supporters and believing in me.

DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR DESIRES. DREAMS DO COME TRUE!
