I was born in Haiti and came to Canada when I was nine. Immersing into Canadian culture at a young age was very difficult. I experienced racism. My parents divorced when I was eighteen leaving me traumatized. However, the fight to go on led me to a career in social work.

Now I have two daughters of my own. We faced many challenges when we moved from Montreal to Edmonton. My past experiences have prepared me to deal with life’s ups and downs. All the hardships, sacrifices and compromises that I have made over the years have made me the person I am today. I am blessed to have the opportunity to study at NorQuest. I cannot change the past but I most certainly can build my future.
