Brittaney Anderson

Hospital Unit Clerk

Every health care role is an important role

Not to paint all hospital unit clerks with one brush, but: “We love organization, we love taking control, and we like to know everything.”

If you were to listen directly to Brittaney Anderson you would understand that the tongue-in-cheek awareness she has of her career’s requirements, and the absolute passion she feels for what she does every day, is a happy trend among many NorQuest College graduates.

NorQuest grads know what they want, and they get results because the programming is so specific and geared towards finding the opportunities that they need and that employers are offering.

“My mom took the Hospital Unit Clerk program many years ago and worked as one for many more years. I watched her doing it as I grew up and that’s what inspired me. I love what I do. It is a great career,” says Anderson, who just one year after graduation is employed at both the University of Alberta and Sturgeon hospitals.

Hospital unit clerks are the glue that holds together many health care settings. They are the uber executive assistants, making sure emergency rooms, palliative care floors, recovery rooms, etc. run smoothly amid sometimes terribly-hectic atmospheres.

“I love helping people,” says Anderson. “When people stop by your desk on their way home and thank you for all your hard work and say things like: ‘thanks for taking care of my mom or dad.’ It’s a great feeling to have.”I love helping people.
