National College Health Assessment

NorQuest College students take part in the National College Health Assessment, a nationally recognized online research survey that collects data on college student health status, behaviours, and beliefs on a wide range of topics, including:

  • alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use
  • sexual health
  • weight, nutrition, and exercise
  • mental health
  • personal safety and violence

The following Executive Summaries highlight the results from the 2018 and 2019 surveys, administered to a random sample of NorQuest College academic upgrading and post-secondary program students, aged 18 and older, coordinated by Student Wellness Services.

Student Wellness Climate Survey

This survey is a pencil-and-paper questionnaire that asks similar questions to the NCHA II, but in a plain English format. It is designed for language learners (CLB level 5+ and lower-level academic upgrading students.

Participation in the NCHA II was funded by the Government of Alberta, Post-Secondary Student Mental Health Grant. The NCHA II and the Student Wellness Survey are approved research projects at NorQuest College. Email the Centre for Growth and Harmony at for more information.
