Learner Income Support (formerly Alberta Works)

Have you applied to an ESL, academic upgrading, or employment training program? Learner Income Support is a financial assistance program maintained by the Government of Alberta, and available to eligible students to assist you in completing your training goals.

After applying to NorQuest College and completing your admission requirements, you can discuss this funding option with a student navigator.

New! Additional courses now eligible for learner income support funding.

Open Entry/Open Exit classes are also now eligible for learner income support funding. These classes allow students the flexibility to choose their start date and be given a set number of weeks to complete each class.

How to apply for funding

Step 1: Once you have selected your courses for the term(s), submit your funding application online at myAlbertaSupports. For help with your funding application, call the Alberta Supports Call Centre toll-free at 1.877.644.9992 or visit an Alberta Supports Centre.

Step 2: Once you have completed your online application, immediately email student.navigator@norquest.ca from your NorQuest MyMail account. Write “Email TPI form” in the subject line. In the email, include your:

  • full name
  • student ID number
  • program name
  • number of courses (full-time is three; part-time is one or two)
  • terms (fall, winter, and/or spring) that you are seeking funding

Step 3: A student navigator will email a Training Provider Information (TPI) form for you to upload to your myAlbertaSupports funding application.

The processing time at the Learner Income Support Office (Government of Alberta Branch) is approximately eight to 10 weeks. NorQuest College is unable to check the status of your funding application.
