Diversity at Work

Funder: Alberta Labour

NorQuest’s Colbourne Institute for Inclusive Leadership (CIIL) with funder support from Alberta Labour has developed an online course for safety supervisors/officers and internationally trained individuals. The goal of the course is to build knowledge and confidence about the culture of safety in Alberta and the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) rights of workers.

The Government of Alberta recently implemented new OH&S legislation which includes important information about health and safety representatives and the rights of workers. This course not only highlights these changes but also gives learners insights into how culture plays a role in communicating safety hazards, speaking up on the job, reporting unsafe work, empathy, and accountability.

Targeting a Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) level 6 (low-intermediate) level, this course is accessible to a broad group of workers. The course is freely available online through the CIIL website.
