External Testing

The Testing Centre is closed due to COVID. Testing Services for these exams are temporarily suspended. Thank you for your understanding.

Testing & Assessment Services offer exam supervision services to external students looking to write paper and computer-based exams.

Book an external exam

To book an external exam, email testing@norquest.ca and provide the following information:

  • full name
  • email address
  • phone number
  • preferred testing date and time
  • name of exam provider (company name of institution)
  • exam/course name
  • exam length
  • format of exam (paper or computer-based)

Note: Testing & Assessment Services cannot guarantee that you will be able to write your exam if you book too close to your exam writing date. Also, be mindful of the duration of your exam with respect to our office hours.

You will receive a confirmation email once the exam materials have been received.

Contact Testing & Assessment Services directly if a private sitting is required. To ensure availability, we suggest you contact us well in advance.

Before you write your exam

  1. Ensure that you bring a valid, government-issued, photo identification. You will not be able to write your exam if you do not provide valid identification.
  2. Review your booking confirmation email for testing details. Be aware of fees, if applicable.
  3. Check our address and location. You may want to plan on how you will get to our location.

Exam preparation

In preparation to your exam writing date, consider the following:

Client expectations:

  • Be respectful to our staff members so they can best assist you. We have a zero tolerance policy for the use of profanity, verbal threats, or any acts of violence. Clients who engage in bullying, harassment, discrimination, or unprofessional behavior of any kind may be asked to leave.
  • All incidents at our Testing Centre are reported to the exam providers.

Exam materials:

  • Pens, pencils, erasers, scrap paper, and ear plugs are available at no cost.
  • A piece of valid, government-issued, photo identification will be required.

Personal items and storage:

  • Personal items are not permitted during your testing session. We will ask you to place your personal items in a secure locker during your exam.
  • Personal items can include: food and beverages (water is the only exception), cellphones or any electronic device, wallets or purses, keys, hats, jackets, unauthorized materials.

Washroom breaks:

  • Visit the washroom before you start.
  • You will need to be escorted by an exam administrator if you wish to use the washroom during your exam.

Academic dishonesty:

  • Academic dishonesty involves actual, intended, or attempted deception and/or dishonest action in relation to the completion of an exam.
  • This includes, but is not limited to: copying, falsifying information, stealing materials, aiding others, communicating with other clients during the exam, using any aid and/or non-permitted items during a testing session, changing your identity with another client.
  • In cases where dishonesty is suspected, you will be notified by an exam administrator. An incident report will be given to the exam provider if suspicious behavior is observed during and after a test session.
