Therapeutic Recreation: Community Service Learning I

The concept of community and its connection to therapeutic recreation practice are introduced in this course. Students will develop practical skills to access community leisure resources to promote client wellness. This course will prepare students for a 120-hour community service learning placement.

Note: Restricted to Therapeutic Recreation Diploma

This course will introduce students to the concepts of community leisure services, leisure barriers, and leisure facilitators. Through the exploration of a variety of recreation and leisure services in the community, students will develop practical skills to promote client wellness in the community and will gain an understanding of community leisure services in preparation for their first practicum placement.
