With the strength of a NorQuest College education, students gain both skills and confidence to begin new careers, provide better lives for their families, and make valuable contributions to society. In order to succeed, students sometimes need some additional assistance to make their lives easier. When that is the case, NorQuest is there for our students.

The Centre for Growth and Harmony is the college’s revamped health and wellness centre. Focused on holistic, student-centered care within an inclusive, respectful, and private environment, the Centre is designed to support students in a wide variety of areas, including health, mental health, newcomer support, and more.

“The Centre houses a multidisciplinary team of registered psychologists, registered social workers, a registered psychiatric nurse, a licensed practical nurse, and a wellness coach,” explains RenĂ©e Trudeau, Manager, Wellness and Accessibility. “We have a team of compassionate professionals who are available when students need a helping hand.”

The Centre’s goal is to promote health and wellness while striving to encourage growth, development, and lifelong learning. A student’s personal well-being is important to their academic success, so health concerns, adapting to a new culture, or personal challenges can all affect performance in school. Through counselling, education, and regular workshops, the Centre is making sure that all NorQuest students stay healthy and confident during their time at the college.

“The growth of our services and the name change certainly reflects who we are at NorQuest College,” says Bryan Shepherd, Dean of Student Services and College Registrar. “We know that college can be stressful at times, and so alongside great academic support, it’s important that we also offer wellness support to our students.”

The Centre for Growth and Harmony moved into a new location in the Singhmar Centre for Learning in late August. The move starts a new chapter in the valuable services that the Centre offers to students.

“We’re very excited about our new location in the Singhmar Centre for Learning,” says Trudeau. “This wonderful new space provides our team the opportunity to better serve students and ensure their success in the classroom and beyond.”
