Through RBC’s generosity and partnership, NorQuest College can continue to live out our mission of removing barriers to education and employment for all our learners.
Creating community and opportunity
The more opportunities our students have to connect with other learners on campus and take part in events and initiatives, the more their skills and confidence can grow. Through RBC Future Launch, NorQuest learners have found their voices, developed stronger networking skills, improved their resumes with RBC-branded opportunities, and gained work-relevant experience before graduating from their programs.
Throughout my time in this role, I have been provided with countless opportunities for personal and professional growth. I am immensely grateful for the impact it has had on my life. As an RBC Student Ambassador, I had the privilege of representing both NorQuest College and RBC, two esteemed institutions that prioritize excellence and diversity.
— Navdeep Kaur, RBC Student Ambassador
Transforming lives
In the past five years, we have transformed hundreds of students’ lives through the RBC Future Launch program. Without your support, we never would have been able to impact over 3000 students.
RBC Student Ambassadors
NorQuest’s RBC Student Ambassadors are engaged throughout the campus and assist with events, student orientations, and program promotion. They are enthusiastic, dedicated individuals passionate about education and committed to helping other learners.
My personal goals for the program were to build skills, community, and a support network. [The RBC Ambassador program] gave me wonderful opportunities to meet diverse groups and build relationships or wakohtowin (community). Thank you, RBC, for the experiences and support that this program has done for me and my future.
— Candace Thomas, Indigenous Studies student and RBC Student Ambassador
RBC Indigenous Mentorship Program
NorQuest strives to create a safe place of belonging for all Indigenous students. In Miyo-pimâtisiwin, a multi-purpose facility for Indigenous learners and the college community, students can embrace their culture, participate in ceremonies, and connect with Elders and staff.
While Miyo-pimâtisiwin provides Indigenous students with a place of belonging, the RBC Indigenous Mentorship program gives Indigenous learners the opportunity to share their voice, welcome new students, organize tours, and connect more deeply with their traditions. Through this program, Indigenous students can improve their leaderships skills and make a positive impact in their community.
I started learning my own language. I started learning who I am as White Eagle Feather Woman, which is my traditional name. And from there, I flourished. I became this leader I never thought I would be … The RBC Indigenous Mentorship program changed my life.
— Crystal Thompson Kootenay, Social Work graduate and program participant
Co-op Program
Lack of relevant experience is one of the greatest barriers new graduates face during their job searches. NorQuest strongly believes work-integrated learning not only helps graduates find meaningful and fulfilling careers, but it also gives them real-world training, so they can start their careers with more skills, knowledge, and confidence.
The RBC Co-op program helps remove this barrier by providing relevant and valuable information on developing and promoting skills to future employers. This year alone, 226 students engaged with workshops to launch their career.
NorQuest is excited to see how this program—and your support—will continue to transform our students' lives.
It took me seven, eight months of searching for a job, and I couldn’t even get a single interview. But then after I did co-op, there were endless opportunities for me just mentioning RBC.
— Alyssa Canasa, Business Administration graduate
Thank you for being a difference maker
At NorQuest, we are always on a quest to change lives for the better and make a difference for our students, our community, and our economy. Through the RBC Future Launch program, we can work towards this mission together and continue to make a lasting impact.
Once again, thank you for your support.
