Welcome back to NorQuest College

The health and safety of NorQuest College students and employees is our top priority as we move forward with the Fall 2020 term. We are excited to continue offering our education programs, and have moved to virtual delivery of our important student services.

If you have questions about enrolling and/or attending NorQuest, email or call 780.644.6000. Due to the large number of inquiries we are receiving at the moment, a response may take three business days. Please be patient! Emails are monitored between 8:15 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. September 2020

Since March, NorQuest has switched from in-person classes to online delivery to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to deliver education and services virtually wherever possible. For the Fall 2020 term, we are offering limited in-person classes and labs where necessary, and have re-opened select in-person student services. The college is following direction from Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and Alberta Health Services (AHS) and has the following safety measures in place:

  • physical distancing and barriers between employees and students
  • personal protective equipment required for all students and employees
  • enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols on campus
  • students and employees are required to complete a COVID-19 Return to Campus course before coming to campus

Is it safe to come to the NorQuest campus?

NorQuest College is following AHS guidelines. Any person entering the NorQuest College campus must complete an AHS self-assessment, wear a mask, and only enter and leave the college through the main entrance on 108 Street NW. These safety measures are in alignment with the measures recommended by AHS to enhance safety and minimize risk.

Are students or employees at risk?

The health and safety of NorQuest students and employees are our top priorities. AHS will be in contact with individuals if they determine there was a risk of transmission. If AHS identifies a risk at the college campus they will communicate with us and we will inform the college community.

What is considered close contact?

Alberta Health Services defines close contact as close physical contact, within two metres, without consistent and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (including face masks, gloves, and Plexiglas shields). Every NorQuest employee is required to use personal protective equipment if they are on campus.

How is the college involved in contact tracing?

When an individual tests positive for COVID-19, AHS starts a contact tracing investigation to determine close contacts (defined above).

If a college employee has been on campus within 14 days and develops symptoms of COVID-19, they are required to email If a college student has been on campus within 14 days and develops symptoms of COVID-19, they are required to email their instructor. This information is used by the college for two purposes:

  1. to assist AHS in their contact tracking investigation, should they request it;
  2. to inform AHS if two or more symptomatic individuals with a known location link were on campus together.

This information will be used by AHS to determine if an outbreak on campus has occurred.

When will the college inform us of COVID-19 cases on campus?

NorQuest will only notify you of a COVID-19 case on campus if we are contacted by AHS. AHS will only contact an employer regarding a COVID-19 case if they feel there was a risk of transmission or outbreak within that workplace.

Important information for fall term classes

We hope you are having a great summer and of course, being safe and staying healthy.

We’d like to update you on NorQuest College’s plans for fall 2020 term. We are excited to continue offering our education programs, and we will continue teaching classes and providing student services online. We are also opening the Edmonton and Wetaskiwin campuses this fall for specific lab classes that require in-person instruction, and are preparing the campus with health and safety measures. Review the details below to see if your classes have any in-person lab components.

How to check if you have classes on campus this fall

If you’ve already enrolled for classes:
Log into MyQuest, review your timetable, and check if any of your classes have in-person labs. (See example below for guidance.) If they do, you have the option to change these labs to a different time (that might work better for you) since we recently opened up more options. You need to make any changes to your in-person labs by July 31.

If you have not yet enrolled for classes in your accepted program:
Enrol as soon as possible. For the fall 2020 term, self-service enrolment has been open since June 1, and you can select your classes by logging into MyQuest. Some classes may have in-person labs. (See example below for guidance.) If you do not have any in-person sections, you will continue your studies completely online.

How to check if you have an in-person lab:
When you check your schedule in MyQuest, look under the Room column. If any rooms are listed, you have a lab that requires you to be on campus during the indicated times.

Coming to campus for in-person labs

If any of your classes have an in-person lab, you are required to attend campus for those labs. Due to COVID-19, there are specific guidelines you will need to follow before, during, and after visiting the campus.

These include:

  • taking the Alberta Health Services COVID-10 Self-Assessment every day
  • staying home if ill and maintaining social distancing
  • following the guidelines on campus
  • wearing a mask if you are in a health lab (these masks will be provided to you by NorQuest)

We know you may have questions if you have in-person labs this fall. We will be sharing more details, including contact information for your questions, in August.

Your health and safety is our priority and we are working hard to ensure the campus is ready for those attending lab classes this fall. We are posting signage to help you remember rules and guidelines, increasing hand sanitizer stations, limiting elevator capacity, and increasing frequency of cleaning.

Keeping you safe and informed for Fall 2020

Here is some updated information for you on what’s happening at NorQuest.

I have questions about enrolling and/or attending NorQuest. What is the best way to communicate?

When will the college be open?

NorQuest College will remain closed until further notice. Our Fall 2020 term will be delivered online. Certain programs in the Faculty of Health and Community Studies will be attending labs in the fall semester. Those students will receive more information in the near future.

How do I make a payment to the college if I cannot pay online?

If you cannot pay online using a credit card, you can pay through your own bank’s online services (like any bill payment). You can also mail in a cheque or money order. International students can pay through Flywire. For more information and our mailing address, visit

Can I make an appointment with a Student Navigator for more information?

Yes, but all appointments will be conducted online. Call 780.644.6130 or email to book an appointment.

I am having issues with connecting to the college online. Who should I contact?

If you have technology issues, email Computer Commons at or call 780.644.6085 Note: Have your student ID number, home address, and phone number available before contacting Computer Commons. Email requests must include this information and the account that you will need assistance with.

I really want to speak to someone in person. Is that possible?

We encourage students not to come to the NorQuest campus until further notice.

The college is still closed and adhering to strict health and security protocols, and we cannot accommodate visitors. However, we are happy to serve you online or via telephone.

Fall 2020 campus update

We know you’ve been wondering what COVID-19 means for NorQuest College’s Fall 2020 term. We’ve been working hard at making sure we provide you with a great learning experience while keeping your health and safety as our top priority. Our fall plan, indicated below, will also follow guidelines and restrictions from Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Fall 2020 plan

For the Fall 2020 term, NorQuest College is excited to continue teaching classes and providing student services online. We will also allow some students limited entry into the building as we begin opening some in-person offerings. Our plan for fall will be implemented in the following steps:

Step 1: Increase real-time online learning options for certain courses and begin opening some in-person labs on campus. Details on which specific labs will be offered in person are being determined. All other classes and student services will remain online. Note: Real-time refers to learning online with an instructor and classmates at a scheduled time.

Step 2: Offer in-person class components on campus for specific programs that would have the highest impact for student success.

Step 3: Begin to open in-person components of classes on campus for other programs.

What does this mean to NorQuest students?

  • If your program has a lab component that requires you to be on campus, we will inform you before your program begins. We will also keep you updated as we begin opening more in-person class components later in the fall term.
  • A plan for social distancing and other safety protocol will be followed based on advice from the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Convocation in a new way

We know Convocation is a very special time for soon-to-be graduates, family, friends, and the NorQuest community. Though we are unable to continue our plans for Convocation at the Winspear Centre on May 25 and 26, we have a great team who is working hard to make this occasion as special and memorable as possible. Grading at NorQuest and options for your success

We know that COVID-19 has created challenges and we’ve been working with your Students’ Association to make sure no student is left behind.

NorQuest College will continue its current grading system and we’re here to help you complete your term online successfully. However, we understand that you may have circumstances that are preventing you from completing your studies at this time. Therefore, we have some options to help you complete your courses.

If you cannot continue your studies at this time:

  • Contact your instructor(s) as soon as possible to inform them about your situation. This must be done before your final assessment. Together, you and your instructor will create a plan.
  • A grade of Incomplete (INC) will appear on your transcript until you complete your course later this year, based on the plan you and your instructor agree upon. INC means no grade has been assigned, so this will not affect your GPA or NorQuest award applications.
  • If you are an international student and unsure about how this could affect your visa status, contact an international advisor at

We highly recommend you complete your course within this term. NorQuest faculty are here to support you during this challenging time, and will work with you to be flexible while ensuring course outcomes are achieved.

We know moving your studies from in person to online is a big change and that’s why we also have NorQuest staff available to help you online. Moving online for your safety

As you know by now, all NorQuest College in-person classes are cancelled until further notice, and we continue working to move these classes online. By now, most of you should have heard more details from your instructor. If you have not heard from your instructor, please check Moodle and connect with them online.
