Students acquire the attitude, knowledge, and skills necessary for achieving and maintaining a healthy pregnancy and parenting a healthy child in the first year of life. Students focus on the impact of pregnancy on the physical, mental, and social well-being of the mother and newborn and examine the events of labour and delivery and the importance of post-natal care. Students gain an appreciation for practising a healthy lifestyle as it pertains to the individual, family, peers, and community.
