NorQuest College’s ESL students took a unique leadership role on April 2, 2015. As hosts of the college’s annual Culture Carnival, students welcomed faculty, staff, and their fellow students to a vibrant gathering where they shared stories, customs, and arts and crafts from their home countries.
ESL student Samaneh Noori, who came to Canada from Afghanistan in 2010, offered to write guests’ names in her native language, Farsi.
“We get to learn about people from all around the world—their traditions, clothing, and culture,” she said.
Congratulations to the ESL students for hosting another great event. What a wonderful example of creating inclusive communities!
