Lorne is a passionate leader, committed to advancing people and organizations through culture and leadership. For the past seven years, Lorne was a driving force at ATB Financial, first in his role as Chief People Officer and, most recently, as ATB’s Chief Evangelist. With his leadership, ATB became widely recognized as one of the top companies to work for in North America, with outstanding engagement and great results.

As Chief Evangelist, Lorne was a dedicated leader, spokesperson and advocate for advancing ATB’s culture both inside and outside of the company.Prior to retiring from ATB, Lorne led the company-wide transition to Google’s G-suite of tools - a transition Google says is one of the most successful transitions they’ve seen. And that’s high praise indeed.

Lorne’s career took many twists and turns before returning to Alberta and joining ATB. Born and raised in Alberta, Lorne’s first degree was in education from the University of Alberta, where he actually played football for the Golden Bears. After a teaching career, he completed a Master of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from the University of Oregon, co-founded an Alberta-based business, then was recruited to work in the US. That journey took Lorne to a fortune 50 company (where he worked directly for the Chairman), the Los Angeles Kings hockey team (where he was VP of Operations), and eventually as President and CEO of Ryzex, an international technology company.

Throughout his career, Lorne’s passion has been helping people develop great (not perfect) leadership, excellent places to work and extraordinary cultures.
