Jill Matthew

Jill has over 25 years of financial and commercial experience in both the private and public sectors. She joined NorQuest College in 2013 as Vice President College Services and Chief Financial Officer. In this role, Jill oversaw the provision of services in the areas of Education & Information Technology, Facilities Management, Integrated Planning and Financial Services, and Student Services. Under her leadership, NorQuest College embarked on a $190 million campus development project, including the construction of the Singhmar Centre for Learning and renovation of the Civic Employees Legacy Tower. Jill was also instrumental in improving the college’s internal controls, information security posture, prevention of fraud and managing risk, and streamlining operational processes to support significant growth in learners over the last number of years. Jill became Chief Customer Experience Officer in April 2019 with a focus on driving an outstanding customer experience across the entire college and securing 40,000 learners by 2025.

Prior to joining NorQuest, Jill began her career as a chartered accountant and was an executive with EPCOR for over thirteen years, overseeing various business functions including Strategic Planning and Corporate Development. In a prior position as the Divisional Vice President, Customer Services and Business Planning, she was responsible for the corporate entity Energy Services, a $300 million subsidiary of EPCOR.

Besides her corporate credentials, Jill taught accounting for several years for the University of Alberta’s Extension Program and marked exams for the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Jill has served as the Audit Committee Chairperson with Athabasca University and was inducted into the university in 2013. Her board experience includes currently serving as Vice Chair for the Bissell Centre, chair of the Safety Codes Governance Committee for the Alberta Safety Codes Council, and UDigit Systems.

Jill holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta as well as Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Consultant, and Institute of Corporate Directors designations.
