Creating more nurses caring for Alberta families
October 19, 2026
Three nursing careers are taking shape. Three families are moving toward greater stability. And the care made possible through your endowment will soon reach patients in operating rooms, pediatric units, maternity wards and communities across Alberta.
Sakine calls it a “chain reaction.” She chose NorQuest’s online Practical Nursing program because it allowed her to study around the unpredictable schedule of raising two young children. When tuition costs made her consider dropping a class and delaying graduation, the Fredrickson-McGregor Education Foundation for LPN Practical Nurse Award kept her moving forward.
For Paisha, part-time study made it possible to pursue nursing while she managed a busy surgical practice full-time. Your support covered more than half of one semester’s tuition and allowed her to preserve the savings she had set aside for the next. “What may not seem like a lot to you is a lot to somebody else,” she shared.
Christina also needed an education that could fit alongside caring for her three children. The award allowed breathing room when her child support came late and eased pressure on her household while she continued working toward a career in pediatrics, where she hopes to help children understand what is happening during frightening or unfamiliar moments.
Each woman chose nursing and continues doing the work to reach her goal. Thanks to your endowment, they were able to continue their studies at a pace that worked for their circumstances, an opportunity that many part-time students do not have.
The chain reaction continues through every patient and the families they will support. Thank you for creating an endowment that keeps education within reach and allows care to travel far beyond the classroom.
