Room 109, Main Building, Downtown Campus

Nurses are located at the downtown campus and are available for appointments during regular college hours. Services include:

  • Care for injuries and illness that occur on campus
  • Health and lifestyle counselling
  • Medical and community referrals
  • Individual health monitoring such as blood pressure, blood sugar
  • Blood pressure screening clinics
  • Vision and hearing screening
  • Health and wellness promotion and prevention education
  • Immunization program for all Health and Human Services Career students and other students as required for work placements
  • Immunizations at the applicant phase for programs that require proof of immunity to rubella by vaccine or titre
  • Immunizations to meet the Alberta standards for healthcare worker employment

To ensure student and patient health and safety, students in Health Careers and Allied Health Career programs and students in the Hospital Unit Clerk program require vaccination against or proof of immunity to poliomyelitis, tetanus, diphtheria, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chickenpox), and hepatitis B. As well, students must have a one-step tuberculin skin test before beginning their practicum. Please note that even though you have had all childhood immunizations, we do need to assess your immunization records. You may need some additional immunizations.

If you have no immunization records and are unable to retrieve any, phone us at 780.644.6155 for an appointment. If you are unable to meet the immunization requirements, (with the exception of documented rubella- containing vaccine or a positive rubella titre) due to medical contraindications, you will be asked to sign a waiver.

If you are out of town or unable to come to the downtown campus for an appointment, refer to the immunization information in your admissions package.
